GALA chorus festival deemed a huge success

DENVER – With over 6,000 delegates from gay and lesbian chorus organizations heading to Colorado this weekend, Denver will turn into what would seem like a “Glee” fanatic’s dream. But the event, the GALA Choruses Festival 2012, is a big deal to those in the singing world, and will include hundreds of outstanding performances, workshops, networking and fun for its attendees.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- The nearly 3,000 participants of AIDS/LifeCycle 11 made it to the halfway point on Wednesday, June 6, the fourth day of the bike ride to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS charities in California.

AIDS/LifeCycle 11: Riders continue on their journey during Day 3

PASO ROBLES, Calif. -- After a difficult Day 2, which was dampened by rain, injuries and delays, AIDS/LifeCycle 11 riders had a much easier third day.

Sean Suydam, an AIDS/LifeCycle Team San Diego training ride leader who is providing updates from the road during this year's seven day trek, said that the third day of the ride was back to business as usual, and even had a surprise ending with most riders finishing two hours earlier than planned.

San Diego Women's Chorus affirms their struggles and celebrations in spoken word

Two weeks ago, the San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) held their annual Spring concert, which also commemorated the 25th anniversary of the local all-women singing organization.

SAN DIEGO -- Members of the San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) are gearing up for their 25th anniversary spring concert, "Heart & Harmony," on Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6.

In celebration of SDWC's silver anniversary, at the concert the group will be performing songs that honor women's voices from the past and lay the foundation for a continued legacy in the San Diego community.

This week's community profile is Carin Scheinin. Originally from San Jose, California, the 32-year-old has made San Diego her home since Nov. 2001. She loves singing and being a part of something that brings women and the community together through music.

Also an avid bicyclist, Scheinin is currently gearing up to participate in her second AIDS Life Cycle this June, and is happily taken.
