Adele is right about one thing, ladies: Rumor has it.

And if that tricky little bugger rumor has you too, chances are that you’re screwed.

We’ve all been in the midst of a gossip storm before. Sometimes, it ain’t pretty. Like a grown-up game of telephone, whatever was originally intended is rarely what ends up being repeated.

You let it slip that so-and-so slept with you-know-who a time or two, and suddenly so-and-so is getting high fives across the board or getting called a slut behind her back, depending on the crowd.

The BeanScene: Tegan and Sara return the favor!

On Tuesday, my roommate and I drove up to LA and waited in line outside the Vista Theater for approximately three hours to get choice seats at the premiere of Tegan and Sara’s new film "Get Along."

Ending up only about 20 feet from the Quin sisters during the Q & A portion was totally worth it. The crowd was about how you would expect it to be: A sea of lesbians, adorned in a wash of about three different outfits and eight different haircuts.

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego LGBT Community Center unveiled Thursday evening what is believed to be the first wall of honor dedicated to LGBT veterans.

A crowd of nearly 100 people, including veterans, active duty servicemembers, elected officials, community leaders and others, attended the catered affair in The Center’s auditorium.

COMMENTARY: The Center commends continued progress in San Diego school district's anti-bullying efforts

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego LGBT Community Center commends the San Diego Unified School District for its continued progress on the implementation of its district-wide anti-bullying policy.

Tuesday night, the SDUSD Board of Education unanimously approved the next step in its ongoing efforts to combat bullying within district schools.

In November 2010, the board established an innovative community-district task force/advisory board to develop and begin implementation plans for a district-wide effort to combat bullying and create safe schools for all students, including LGBT students.

Two Palm Springs area organizations receive large grants from Bank of America

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- The Desert AIDS Project and FIND Food Bank recently received grants from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation's Neighborhood Builders grant program.

As a result of the award, the two organizations will each receive $100,000 annually for two years, along with a leadership development program for their senior executives and emerging leaders.

SAN DIEGO -- Those looking for last-minute pieces for their Halloween costume or are just in the mood to shop, Revivals is having a special sale on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The resale store will mark down some items in every department by 50%.

Along with its four stores in the Palm Springs area, proceeds from sales at the Revivals San Diego location benefit the Desert AIDS Project and other charities that provide services to those living with HIV/AIDS.

Community members share thoughts on San Diego Pride at town hall meeting

SAN DIEGO -- As part of its commitment to keep the community informed since a reconstituted board of directors took over management of San Diego LGBT Pride in January 2010, the organization held another town hall meeting Tuesday night at The Center.

About 50 people attended the event, including Pride staff and board members, some of the organization's volunteers, and other members of the public.

SAN DIEGO -- Many people do not realize that the organization that produces the San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival, held each July, operates year-round to plan the annual festivities and carry out a number of other programs.

As San Diego Pride closes the books on the 2011 pride season, the board of directors and staff are hosting a town hall meeting to be held Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 pm at The Center.

SAN DIEGO -- To commemorate the 13th anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard, a local organization will host the fourth annual "San Diego Remembers Matthew Shepard" candlelit march and rally, on Tuesday, Oct. 11 starting at 7 pm.

Donations for AIDS Walk & Run San Diego accepted through Oct. 14

SAN DIEGO -- While donation totals from last month's AIDS Walk & Run San Diego are still rolling in, The Center has announced the top fundraising teams from this year's event.

Donations are being accepted through Friday, Oct. 14, and those who wish to support the event are encouraged to send in a donation or give on behalf of one of the participants or teams.

Thousands of people joined in the 5K walk and 10K run held Sept. 25, which is the largest single-day HIV/AIDS fundraiser in San Diego County held annually.
