VIDEO: White House honors Military Acceptance Project as Champion of Change

WASHINGTON -- The White House today honored San Diego-based Military Acceptance Project (MAP) for its work in the LGBT and military communities.

The ceremony, which was streamed live earlier this morning, was part of the White House's Champions of Change Program that highlights individuals and organizations doing extraordinary things. The event was followed by a panel discussion featuring MAP and other groups.

WASHINGTON -- Submissions for the White House Office of Public Engagement LGBT Pride Month Champions of Change Video Challenge are due this Friday, May 4, and citizens are encouraged to submit videos exploring the stories of the unsung heroes and local leaders of the LGBT movement.

"Across the country, ordinary people are doing extraordinary things to improve the lives of the LGBT community," a statement issued by the White House said. "They are parents and students, neighborhood and business leaders, artists and advocates, all united in the fight for equality."
