SAN FRANCISCO – A three-judge panel at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals grilled lawyers on both sides Thursday afternoon on two motions under appeal.

Judges Michael Daly Hawkins (a Clinton nominee), Stephen Reinhardt (a Carter nominee) and N. Randy Smith (a George W. Bush nominee) presided over the appeals court hearing.

Attacks against Proposition 8 trial judge are denounced

SAN FRANCISCO – Attorneys for the plaintiffs in Perry v. Brown filed a brief late Monday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit answering claims by the proponents of Proposition 8 that the judge who struck down the discriminatory law – now-retired U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker – should have recused himself because he is gay and in a same-sex relationship.

Ninth Circuit slaps stay on release of Prop 8 trial videos

SAN FRANCISCO -- The never-ending legal fight over anything associated with Proposition 8 took yet another twist today when the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted an emergency stay to halt the release of the trial videotapes.

It is yet another stall tactic by the opponents of marriage equality to keep the Proposition 8 issue ties up in legal bondage for as long as possible to keep California's gays and lesbians from marrying.
