LONDON -- British Prime Minister David Cameron’s strong support for legalizing same-sex marriage has greatly improved his popularity with the U.K.'s LGBT voters since the last general election, according to a recent survey by PinkNews.co.uk.

David Cameron will risk a major battle with his party next week by backing gay weddings in churches, the Evening Standard can reveal.

He will go further than ever in his modernizing drive by saying religious groups should be allowed to host same-sex civil weddings in churches, synagogues and other religious buildings if they choose.

Organizations that reject gay marriage, such as the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, will have legal protection from being forced to host ceremonies against their wishes, the Prime Minister will pledge.

David Cameron facing "biggest rebellion ever" over gay marriage

LONDON -- UK Prime Minister David Cameron is facing the biggest Conservative rebellion if he plans to introduce gay marriage.

Nearly 40%, 118 Tory members of parliament out of 303, have said they will vote or are uneasy about the government plans to bring in marriage equality by 2015, according to The Daily Mail.

The report comes after there were claims the government would fast-track the bill and have a vote by January. It was alleged Cameron wanted to "get it done and get it done quickly."

UK takes big step toward marriage equality, proposed for 2012

LONDON -- The United Kingdom, which is ruled by a coalition government under conservative Prime Minister David Cameron, said today that it would create a consultation to expand civil partnerships to marriage equality.

Lynne Featherstone, the UK's Equalities Minister who is a Liberal Democrat, made the announcement that pleased marriage-equality supporters around the globe. She said the consultation would begin in March 2012 with the goal of changing the law ahead of the next election scheduled in May 2015.
