San Diego Human Dignity Foundation names new executive director

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation’s (SDHDF) board of directors has selected John Brown as the organization's new executive director, effective Feb. 1.

Brown comes to SDHDF after most recently serving as executive director of Family Services of the Desert, one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the Coachella Valley.

Brown's resume also includes service as executive director of the Desert AIDS Project from 1998 to 2004.

TODAY: All merchandise half-off at Revivals

SAN DIEGO -- Revivals is holding its annual "After Christmas Sale" - today, Dec. 26 - with all donated merchandise available for 50% off its original price.

With several stores in the Palm Springs area and one in Hillcrest, proceeds from the sale of merchandise at Revivals benefits the Desert AIDS Project, which provides medical care and comprehensive support services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the desert community.

The Hillcrest location opened in early 2011, and has provided support for community organizations in both San Diego and the desert area.

Bienestar to reach out to Latino community about HIV and AIDS

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Bienestar this weekend will bring an all-day program to Desert AIDS Project (D.A.P.) focusing on the particular needs of the Latino community who may be living with, affected by or at-risk for HIV/AIDS.

On Saturday, July 14, following registration and breakfast at 9:30 am at D.A.P.’s campus at 1695 N. Sunrise Way in Palm Springs, the program will focus on the basics of HIV, safer sex and risk-reduction practices, how to disclose your status safely if HIV-positive, where to find resources in our community, spirituality, building self-esteem and more.

Revivals to host art show Saturday

SAN DIEGO -- Revivals San Diego will present its "Art Show 3" on Saturday, June 30, featuring the work of local artist Ray Diaz.

Community members are invited to visit the Hillcrest store between 6-9 pm to view Diaz' work and enjoy the show.

Revivals is a resale store which benefits the programs of the Desert AIDS Project, which provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the Palm Springs and San Diego areas. The chain of stores has several locations in the desert area and one store in San Diego.

Revivals plans Christmas in July sale

Christmas in July may not seem like a new idea – until you’ve seen how the four Revivals stores from San Diego to Palm Springs celebrate this special, two-week summer holiday, July 1-14.

To kick it all off, the Revivals store in the Palm Desert Costco Center will be hosting a preview event on Saturday, June 30, from 9:30 am to 6 pm at 72-750 Dinah Shore Drive. From noon to 4 pm, Revivals volunteers and staff will be working the runway with their own version of a Beach Wear and Summer Desert Fashion Show.

Desert AIDS Project to mark National HIV Testing Day in Indio and Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – In its ongoing commitment to free and confidential HIV testing, Desert AIDS Project will also be providing a $10 gift card for those who are tested – and wait the 20 minutes for their test results – at D.A.P.’s Indio satellite office on Wednesday, June 27, from 11 am to 5 pm, as long as the supply of gift cards last.

The office is located at 81-880 Dr Carreon Blvd, Suite B-107 in Indio. Although appointments are not necessary, anyone wishing to make one may call 760-342-4197.

Revivals in Hillcrest to host Super Saturday Sale on Feb. 25

SAN DIEGO -- Open just over a year in San Diego, Revivals Store has become an active part of the Hillcrest neighborhood. To thank its customers, the store will host a special Saturday Sale on Feb. 25.

During the sale, items in every department in the store will be marked down by 50%. Customers at Revivals will find new and "gently used" clothing, housewares, jewelery, artwork, furniture, mattresses and accessories.

PALM SPRINGS -- The Desert AIDS Project will host a star-studded gala this evening to raise funds for its programs and services at the 18th annual Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards.

Hosted by Joan Rivers, the evening will include dinner, performances, special presentations and a presentation of awards. Well-known celebrities such as Queen Latifah, Wynonna Judd, Megan Mullally, and David Burnham are scheduled to perform at the gala.
