Fans pick new moniker for Hillcrest nightclub with no name

SAN DIEGO -- Hundreds of late-night revelers gathered at the nightclub space located at 1202 University Ave. in Hillcrest on Friday night to find out the much anticipated name for the space, which was announced as 1202.

The nightclub, which opened two weeks ago in the venue that most recently housed Eden, was purchased by DVR Intellectual Property. DVR also owns popular Hillcrest restaurant The Range Kitchen & Cocktails, which moved into the restaurant portion of the entertainment complex last weekend.

CONTEST: Name entertainment complex at 1202 University Ave. in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO -- The new owners of the entertainment complex located at 1202 University Ave., which most recently housed Eden, have turned to the community to help them name the nightclub portion of the space.

The venue will be connected to The Range Kitchen & Cocktails, which is currently in the process of moving from its former location across the street.

An online survey has been posted and community members are encouraged to select from one of the 11 suggested names, or submit their own.

JOBS: Open casting call set for restaurant/nightclub staff in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO -- The restaurant and nightclub space located at 1202 University Ave., most recently the home to Eden, will hold an open casting call on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from noon to 2 pm and 6-8 pm.

The company is looking for several staff positions at the space, which will be home to The Range Kitchen & Cocktails -- currently moving from its spot across the street -- and a nightclub that has not yet been named.

SDGLN Exclusive: Former Eden space to reopen Friday with "To Be Renamed" party

SAN DIEGO – The highly visible space at the northeast corner of University Avenue and Vermont Street most recently housing Eden Nightclub and Restaurant will not be dark for much longer. In fact, the new owners officially took control of the space today, and will reopen the venue’s patio and nightclub space this Friday and Saturday night for a special “To Be Renamed” party.

BREAKING NEWS: Hillcrest hip spot Eden to close

SAN DIEGO – Popular Hillcrest nightclub, patio bar and restaurant Eden will be closing this Friday after months of financial difficulty, San Diego Gay & Lesbian News learned this morning.

The hip gathering spot in Hillcrest has lost its lease, SDGLN has confirmed, and a prospective new tenant has already emerged.

Eden officials said they plan to host a going-away party for the community on Friday, and will release details in the near future.
