San Diego Gay Men's Chorus concerts to benefit Mama's Kitchen

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) has selected Mama’s Kitchen as its 2013 spring concert community partner.

Audience members attending “Rocket Man – The Music of Elton John” will be asked to deposit their donation during intermission in the chorus’s iconic giant ruby slipper in the theater lobby.

The concert takes place on April 13 and 14 at the Birch North Park Theatre.

SAN DIEGO -- The songs of legendary musician and showman Elton John will take center stage at the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus spring concert "Rocket Man – The Music of Elton John" on April 13 and 14 at the historic Birch North Park Theatre.

The 150-member chorus will highlight five decades of hits from “Your Song,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Daniel” and “Candle in the Wind” to “Circle of Life” and other songs from his movie and stage hits "The Lion King" and "Aida."

Elton John, David Furnish are parents for second time

LOS ANGELES – Elton John and David Furnish are daddies again.

The power couple said via the pop superstar’s website that their son, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, was born on Friday, Jan. 11, in Los Angeles.
The baby weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces, and was given birth by a surrogate mother.

John, 65, and Furnish, 50, are the parents of 2-year-old Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, also born in California via a surrogate mother.

Elton John urges world show compassion for people living with HIV

Sir Elton John has called for more compassion to be shown to people living with HIV.

The singer was addressing the 19th International AIDS Conference in Washington on Monday.

Sir Elton said: “We need to put our arms around people who are HIV-positive. If you show compassion, no one will be afraid to seek treatment.”

Urging the audience to stand up against stigma, he called for compassion and understanding of all people living with HIV or AIDS, including gay and bisexual men, sex workers and drug addicts.

Victory? Ukraine parliament cancels vote on anti-gay law after international outcry

KIEV, Ukraine -- In a last minute move, the Ukrainian parliament cancelled today's scheduled vote on legislation that would ban any Ukrainian citizen from speaking out favorably about gays or lesbians.

VIDEO: Sexy rugby star bares all for Elton John's AIDS Foundation

Rugby star Sacha Harding has bared all for a photo shoot for the U.K. magazine Gay Times to support Elton John’s AIDS foundation.

"AIDS is such a devastating disease for so many people around the world and I was honored to get this opportunity to try and do my part to help raise awareness of the disease and ultimately save lives," Harding says.

Last year Harding, who plays with Bedford Blues, was also voted "Britain’s manliest man" after winning a nationwide competition organized by men’s grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge.

NEW YORK – The award-winning singer Nhojj has released a music video of “Amazing Grace,” using the traditional Christian hymn to uplift and inspire gays and lesbian who are fighting for marriage equality.

The Guyanese alternative soul singer, who is openly gay, said he will be celebrating Easter this year with his new interpretation of the gospel classic, which was written in 1779.
