Fortune Feimster swings into San Diego this weekend

Fortune Feimster wants to tickle your funny bone this weekend in the Gaslamp.

Feimster originally gained fame as a comedian on the traditional comedy circuit but her presence this past year as a writer, roundtable participant and purveyor of slapstick SNL-style comedy on Chelsea Handler’s popular late-night show has skyrocketed this lesbian funny woman’s career into unexpected Diva heights.

PALM SPRINGS -- Took a little break from the blog as many have noticed, due to a horrible case of the flu that lasted the better part of a week. That shook me to the core and I heard I wasn't the only one to return with a bug.

VIDEO: Poppy Champlin to bring her Queer Queens of Qomedy to North Park

SAN DIEGO -- As a performer, you never forget your flops. Luckily, for lesbian comedian Poppy Champlin, only one from her stand-up career -- which has now lasted almost 30 years -- truly stands out.

That flop was many years ago in a Manchester, N.H. bar, where drag queen shows were the norm and mirrored walls were all the rage. She later recognized the audience just wasn't "invested" in her act; it just wasn't her demographic. "Sometimes a bad memory can be a good thing," she said.

One of her "besties," transgender funnyman Ian Harvie, is trying to raise some money to support the filming of his upcoming comedy special in his hometown of Portland, Maine in January and Margaret is graciously offering her assistance.
