SDGMC to celebrate "Summer of Love" at annual Encore Gala

SAN DIEGO -- It will be a shimmering “Summer of Love” for everyone at the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus's (SDGMC) annual Encore Gala at Point Loma’s Liberty Station on Saturday, June 15. Take a trip back to the psychedelic Sixties with your groovy hosts from SDGMC!

All hippies — and hipsters— are welcome!

The event will include live Sixties music from San Diego’s multi-award-winning band Rockola, themed food from John Little Catering and live and silent auctions.

Being Alive to host yard sale fundraiser

SAN DIEGO -- Being Alive San Diego will hold an enormous yard sale on Saturday, March 16, from 8 am to 1 pm at their Hillcrest office.

The yard sale will include donated items from clients and people in the community.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Being Alive’s Food Bank, called Daniel’s Pantry. With more than 350 clients each month, the monetary need is very high. Being Alive strives to ensure that none of its clients go hungry during the month.

Tickets available for The Center's 39th anniversary gala

SAN DIEGO -- Tickets are still available for The San Diego LGBT Community Center's 39th Anniversary Gala, taking place Saturday, Oct. 6.

The event often sells out, so supporters of The Center are encouraged to buy their tickets now to make sure they have a seat.

More than 600 people are expected to attend the event, which will take place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, and include a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, silent auction, a brief program and live entertainment.

Tickets available for Home Start's annual "Hallo-Wine" affair

SAN DIEGO -- Tickets are available Home Start's fifth annual Hallo-Wine Garden Party, taking place Saturday, Oct. 6 from 3-6 pm.

The event, held at a private estate in Hillcrest, includes samplings boutique wines, beers, spirits and gourmet hors d'oeuvres.

Participants will also have the opportunity and mingle, walk, and tour the gardens at what is considered to be the "most beautiful private estate in Hillcrest."

Tickets available for summer social wine tasting event to benefit Mama's Kitchen

SAN DIEGO -- Mama's Kitchen's annual wine tasting event will be he held Thursday, Aug. 16, from 6-9 pm at Bourbon Street Bar & Grill in University Heights.

The event, now in its 17th year, will be presented by Revivals, and proceeds will go directly to the daily operations of Mama's Kitchen, which prepares and delivers three meals a day, seven days a week, at no charge to men, women and children affected by AIDS/HIV or cancer.

At the event, guests will experience eclectic wine tastings with pours throughout the evening, while enjoying a sumptuous selection of hors d’oeuvres.

Being Alive to present Art & Soul fundraising event on June 23

SAN DIEGO -- Art & Soul, Being Alive San Diego's signature fundraising event, will be held from 6-9 pm Saturday, June 23.

Formerly known as Soul Plates, each year celebrity artists create one-of-a-kind art pieces that are auctioned off at the event, which typically attracts over 250 guests.

SAN DIEGO -- One of the most anticipated charity events in the San Diego LGBT community is the Martinis Above Fourth Charity Wreath Auction. The eight annual event will take place tonight at 7 pm.

The walls of the popular restaurant and lounge have been covered with wreaths, which have been donated by individuals, community organizations, and businesses, to be auctioned off this evening. Proceeds from the event will be benefit The Queen Eddie Conlon Youth Fund, which provides school supplies, scholarships and housing for LGBT youth in need.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- To support the re-building of an LGBT-affirming church building in Joplin, Mo., that was destroyed by a tornado last May, a coalition of five desert-area churches are holding a "mega" rummage sale on Saturday, Dec. 3.

According to ABC News, more than 116 people died in the tornado that swept through Missouri, making it the single deadliest in nearly 60-years.
