WASHINGTON — Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today joined the Human Rights Campaign’s Americans for Marriage Equality series, a public engagement campaign featuring prominent Americans who support committed gay and lesbian couples getting married.

As Secretary of State, Clinton was an outspoken advocate on the world stage for global LGBT rights.

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Is Hillary Clinton running for President in 2016?

A New York correspondent for The Daily Currant followed the former Secretary of State on her morning jog around her neighborhood in Chappaqua, N.Y., and got the chance to ask Clinton the million-dollar question:

"Secretary Clinton! Secretary Clinton!", our reporter shouted, "Do you have time for a few quick questions about 2016?"
"Not now, I'm running," Clinton responded.

SDGLN Poll: Do readers think Hillary Clinton will run for President?

SAN DIEGO – A supermajority of readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll think that Hillary Clinton will run for President in 2016.

Our poll question was: Do you think Hillary Clinton will run for President in 2016?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 80% of readers think that Hillary Clinton will run for President, and 20% don’t think she will. Interestingly, that 80% is about the same percentage that President Barack Obama got in the 2012 presidential election from LGBT voters.

SDGLN Poll: What do readers like most about the Super Bowl?

SAN DIEGO – A majority of readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll about the Super Bowl say they like watching the game more than the commercials or the halftime show. And this year, Super Bowl fans enjoyed a doozy of a game, with the Baltimore Ravens hanging on for a dramatic win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Our poll question was: What do you like most about the Super Bowl?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 55% of readers like the Super Bowl game the most, 33% like the TV commercials the most, and 12% like the halftime show the most.

HRC commends nomination of John Kerry for Secretary of State

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) on Friday praised the nomination of U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) to be Secretary of State during President Obama's second term.

Obama formally announced the nomination Friday at the White House

Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, would replace Hillary Rodham Clinton if confirmed by his fellow senators -- he is not expected to face much resistance in the Senate for confirmation.

Secretary Clinton champions gay rights for State Department, abroad

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton paid tribute to the State Department’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA) organization. The ceremony was held in the State Department’s historic Ben Franklin room for the first time.

After receiving a standing ovation Clinton thanked the crowd for what she called their courageous actions in the face of historic discrimination. The secretary lamented that homosexuals could not serve openly in the State Department until 1992.

Hunger strike ends after 20 days: Activists demanded decriminalization of homosexuality

PARIS -- Three gay activists on Saturday called off their hunger strike after 20 days, when doctors warned them that they were risking permanent damage to their health.

Based in France, they had been refusing food since June 25, to draw attention to the criminalization of homosexuality in more than 70 countries and to pressure the French government to honor its pledge to bring a resolution for the universal decriminalization of same-sex behaviour to the United Nations General Assembly.
