SAN DIEGO -- Being Alive San Diego, which has provided life-saving services to San Diegans living with HIV and AIDS for over 20 years, has recently received a $30,000 matching gift from two of the organization's supporters.

The organization, which has struggled over the years due to government funding cuts, hopes community members will step up and help reach the matching donation goal so Being Alive can continue its tradition of providing high-quality services to those most in need.

For Adams Avenue Grill's owner/chef, Dining Out For Life is personal

SAN DIEGO -- For Adams Avenue Grill owner/chef Tim Klepeis, one day is not enough for Dining Out For Life. This year, Klepeis has committed to donating 50% of his day’s sales to the event, and will extend his generosity by including all diners through the weekend who mention they are there to support Dining Out For Life.

Klepeis has been involved in Dining Out For Life since the beginning, and delights in being able to use his restaurant to support HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs at The Center.

For him, it’s deeply personal.

VIDEOS: San Diegans will be "Dining Out For Life" on Thursday

SAN DIEGO – Restaurants across town will be bustling Thursday, April 26, with “Dining Out For Life” participants raising money for The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs.

More than 100 local restaurants, bars, coffeehouses, food trucks and nightclubs will donate at least 25% of the days sales to the cause as a showing of support for The Center’s programs.

This week's community profile is Carin Scheinin. Originally from San Jose, California, the 32-year-old has made San Diego her home since Nov. 2001. She loves singing and being a part of something that brings women and the community together through music.

Also an avid bicyclist, Scheinin is currently gearing up to participate in her second AIDS Life Cycle this June, and is happily taken.

NEW YORK -- In the second half-hour of here! TV’s special two-part series "For & Against," host Jim Morrison tackles the little-known issue of HIV criminalization. The program will air tonight exclusively on here! TV's network and online.

In states across the country, people are being sent to jail for not disclosing, or being accused of not disclosing, that they are HIV-positive.

SAN DIEGO -- Teams are now forming for Mama's Kitchen's second annual "Man Diego" fundraising event, to be held Tuesday, March 27, from 6-9 pm.

Man Diego is friendly competition for men and women to participate in a tournament-style “Bar Olympics” fundraiser for the nonprofit organization which cooks and delivers hot, nutritionally specific meals free of charge to men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS or cancer, throughout San Diego County.
