The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has asked Catholics to pray, fast, and abstain from meat on May 3 “for the justices of the US Supreme Court, that they would respect the authentic meaning of marriage by upholding California’s Proposition 8.”

Legally married lesbian parents told to split up or son will be expelled from school

MPUMALANGA, South Africa -- An Mpumalanga lesbian couple has been told to split up, or their son will face expulsion from school, it was reported on Wednesday.

Legally married Samantha (27) and Kally Mabe (26) told The Star newspaper that they were called to a meeting with the principal of Secunda Highveld Christian School and were told their homosexuality was problematic.

They were also accused of falsifying the information stating their sexual orientation in the school's application letter.

Zimbabwe group calls for banning gay organizations

HARARE, Zimbabwe -- A local pressure group, Africa Against Western Influence and Interference, has called on authorities to ban gay and lesbian groups in the country, saying their existence was unconstitutional and un-African.

The organization was formed two years ago with the aim of investigating and understanding the involvement of western countries in African affairs.

Its focus is on organizations funded and working with western countries.

Death penalty on way in Ethiopia for gays?

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia -- An anti-gay organization that held a recent workshop on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues in Ethiopia is reporting that the death penalty against gay people in Ethiopia may be on the horizon.

The workshop reportedly looked with the social "evils" and "disastrous" effects of homosexuality in Ethiopia, and was led by United for Life Ethiopia, a Western Evangelical Christian organization with local representation.

New York state bill would ban "ex-gay therapy" for minors

ALBANY, N.Y — Two New York City state lawmakers on Friday introduced a bill that seeks to ban the controversial practice of gay-to-straight “conversion” therapy, also known as reparative therapy.

WASHINGTON – Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and OutServe-SLDN are calling on the Pentagon to remove anti-gay pastor Greg Laurie from the program of events at its National Day of Prayer on May 2.

The groups have also launched a petition for Americans to urge the Pentagon to remove Laurie, who has a long vitriolic history of using anti-LGBT rhetoric and insists that being gay is a sin.
