For the first time in American politics, gay rights supporters are putting considerable pressure on all the candidates for President of the United States.

For the past three years, the LGBT community has been quite vocal with President Barack Obama over gay rights issues such as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which was repealed this year. Obama, who is presumed to be the Democratic nominee, has done more for gay rights than any president in history, but some in the LGBT community still want him to evolve further on marriage equality.

COMMENTARY: The messology of Bishop Eddie Long continues without punishment

Bishop Eddie Long, one of the Black Church’s prominent pastors of "prosperity gospel" and bling-bling theology in the Southeast, is flashing neither his gold nor silver these days.

The embattled pastor had hoped that settling a sex scandal lawsuit for an undisclosed amount against allegations that he used influence, trips, gifts and jobs to coerce young males into sexual relations would close the lid on the matter.

Classmate kills self after bullying on sexuality, friends say

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -- Students at a local school are grieving a classmate. Friends say the young man took his own life because he couldn't take any more bullying. And they say school officials knew about the torment but didn't do enough to stop it.

Friends say that kids bullied Jacob Rogers at Cheatham County Central High School for the past four years, but in the past few months it had become so bad he dropped out of school.

And Wednesday, he ended his life.

Jonas is 19 years old. Francky is 20. And a judge in Cameroon just sentenced them both to five years in prison for being gay.

Cameroon has several laws that criminalize homosexuality -- at least 10 people have been arrested this year alone. Last July, Jonas and Francky were arrested outside a club on suspicion of violating these discriminatory anti-gay laws.
