TODAY: San Diegans to dine out in support of The Center's HIV/AIDS services

SAN DIEGO -- More than 100 restaurants, bars, and coffeehouses are participating in Dining Out For Life, an annual fundraiser in support the San Diego LGBT Community Center's HIV/AIDS services.

Participating venues pledge to donate at least 25% of the day's sales to the cause, making it very easy for diners to participate - all they have to do is show up and dine out!

Jim Winsor’s Out & About: Martinis Above Fourth reprises Charity Wreath Auction this Monday

This week Martinis Above Fourth owners Jim Simpson and Doru Tifui will once again be hosting one of the biggest community charity events of the year.

The ninth annual Charity Wreath Auction is a benefit for the Eddie Conlon Youth Fund, which provides school supplies, scholarships and housing for LGBT youth, some of whom have been turned away by their families.

AIDS Walk & Run San Diego schedules team leader workshops

SAN DIEGO -- Now that San Diego Pride has passed, many in the community begin their plans for participation in the annual AIDS Walk & Run San Diego, which is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 30.

Registration is open and organizers encourage organizations, businesses, groups of friends and others to form teams for the event, which raises money for local HIV/AIDS service providers.

Ian Johnson does it all! Not only does he volunteer for numerous community organizations, but he also works at The San Diego LGBT Community Center helping to organize special events, as a manager at Martinis Above Fourth (where he helps organize and MC the annual charity wreath auction and AIDS Walk "Summer Splash" fundraiser), and he appears on the weekly online talk show, "They Said."

Ian, who is 36 years old (and said "wow, I'm 36" when sharing his age), is from Diamond Bar, California and has been in San Diego for nearly 16 years. He is single.
