In Sacramento, LGBT activists to counter newly formed “ex-gay” movement

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Several well-known LGBT activists will appear this weekend in Sacramento to dispute the scientifically disproved myth that gays can be turned straight.

Wayne Besen, executive director of Truth Wins Out, will give a multimedia presentation on the subject as a new “gays can be cured” group launches in the Sacramento area.

Besen will speak at an event running from 6 to 8:30 pm Saturday, Sept. 22, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral’s International Hall in Sacramento.

AIDS/LifeCycle 11: Sean Suydam to embark on his sixth journey to fight AIDS

SAN DIEGO -- Over 3,000 people will take the journey of a lifetime next week, bicycling nearly 600 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the 11th AIDS/LifeCycle.

The ride, which raises money and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS and is presented by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, includes participants from all walks of life.

An Evening With Women pulls in a hefty sum for LA's Gay & Lesbian Center

LOS ANGELES -- Last weekend, out singer/songwriter/producer Linda Perry put on a gala that whipped up almost half a million dollars for several important LA Gay & Lesbian Center programs.

Dubbed "An Evening With Women," the celebrity-drenched soiree was held at the Beverly Hilton and more than $445,000 was raised through ticket sales, pre-gala silent auctions and auctions during the event itself.

LOS ANGELES -- For the fifth year in a row, the award-winning singer-songwriter-producer Linda Perry has gathered together many of her friends from the entertainment industry to raise money for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center's many important programs.

Called "An Evening With Women," this year's star-studded fundraiser will be bigger than ever, and is being held Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton.

NEW YORK – Former San Diegan Jason Wimberly is making dreams come true.

The gay beauty, style, fitness expert and community personality recently participated in an episode of MTV’s hit makeover show, "MADE." Wimberly’s episode will debut on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT.

Each edition of the show follows the story of a teenager who has a dream that they are having trouble achieving on their own, be it due to a lack of confidence, resources or know-how.
