Changes in the wind for FilmOut San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Basking in the glow of a mega-successful 15th annual LGBT Film Festival, the FilmOut team has tweaked its future plans to take advantage of the growing library of quality movies that appeal to the community. This will mean more LGBT movies year-round.

The FilmOut board of directors held its annual meeting Monday night, elected board members and officers, reviewed the past year and looked forward to the new year ahead.

"Meth Head" runs away with 2013 FilmOut awards

SAN DIEGO – “Meth Head” and “Raid Of The Rainbow Lounge” dominated the 2013 FilmOut LGBT Film Festival awards this year, along with audience-favorite "I Do."

The film festival, which ran from May 29 through June 2 at the Birch North Park Theatre, attracted record attendance and box office revenue, according to organizers.

“Meth Head,” a gritty and brutally honest movie about the scourge of meth addiction, won six total awards:

• Best Narrative Feature
• Best Director for Jane Clark
• Best Screenplay for Jane Clark
• Best Actor in a Feature Film for Lukas Haas

FilmOut: Booboo Stewart to attend final day of LGBT Film Festival | VIDEO

SAN DIEGO – Today is Day 5 of FilmOut San Diego’s 15th annual LGBT Film Festival, which concludes tonight with a Closing Night Party in the lobby between Birch North Park Theatre and West Coast Tavern.

Special celebrity guest today will be Booboo Stewart of "Twilight Fame," who is the star of "White Frog" screening at 4:30 pm. Stewart just flew home to California from Canada, where he is filming "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" and playing the role of James Proudstar/Warpath. Stewart will join "White Frog" director Quentin Lee and others from the movie during the Q&A session.

Thirty-five feature films and shorts are being shown at the LGBT Film Festival, which concludes Sunday, June 2 at the historic Birch North Park Theater.

SAN DIEGO – Today is Day 3 of FilmOut San Diego’s 15th annual LGBT Film Festival, and the first screening, at 5 pm, is "Raid Of The Rainbow Lounge" documenting the amazing public uprising in Fort Worth, Texas against police brutality towards the LGBT community.

Thirty-five feature films and shorts are being shown at the LGBT Film Festival from May 29 to June 2 at the historic Birch North Park Theater.

SAN DIEGO – Today is Day 2 of FilmOut San Diego’s 15th annual LGBT Film Festival, with the first screening starting at 5 pm at the 750-seat Birch North Park Theatre.

The festival kicked off Wednesday night with a nearly sold-out showing of the teen comedy "G.B.F.," followed by a packed Opening Night party across the street at Claire de Lune's Sunset Temple. Beforehand the Opening Night movie was shown, San Diego City Council president Todd Gloria presented a city proclamation declaring May 29, 2013 as FilmOut San Diego Day in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO – It’s Opening Night for FilmOut San Diego’s 15th annual LGBT Film Festival, which runs today through Sunday at historical Birch North Park Theatre.

Director Darren Stein and cast members from the Opening Night movie “G.B.F.” will be in attendance when the comedy is shown at 7:30 tonight along with two short films, director Dave Scala's "Grotto" and director Douglas Horn's “Coffee & Pie.”
