SAN DIEGO –– Turkey makes a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, but the leftover oil not only clogs arteries, it also clogs pipes, which leads to sewage spills.

This year, cooking grease has led to 40,040 gallons of sewage to spill into local water just in the City of San Diego. San Diego Coastkeeper, which protects and restores swimmable, fishable and drinkable waters, offers these tips for properly disposing of leftover cooking fats, oils and grease.

PGK Dance Project to preview Central American performance on Black Friday

SAN DIEGO –– The PGK Dance Project, under the leadership of artistic director Peter G. Kalivas, will give a preview of its performance at an international dance festival in Central America on Black Friday.

The two-program performance will be at 1:15 pm Friday, Nov. 23, in the dance troupe’s studio at the Culture Shock Dance Center, 2010 Hancock Street, Suite 200. A donation of $5 can be made at the door or HERE.

San Francisco Supervisors barely pass Wiener's proposal to ban nudity

SAN FRANCISCO – A small part of San Francisco’s quirky history is about to get covered up.

The Board of Supervisors voted 6-5 on Tuesday to ban public nudity, prompting a handful of protesters to disrobe and get tossed out of the meeting.

The proposal by openly gay Supervisor Scott Wiener would make it illegal to show one’s genitals in public spaces, with a handful of exceptions including the annual Folsom Street Fair.

Religious Right legal group: Gays can't force Christian clerks to issue same-sex marriage licenses

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A Christian legal group on Monday sent a memorandum to marriage officials in the three states where gay marriage was legalized in last week's elections, advising them they "do not have to violate their faith or conscience by personally issuing licenses to applicants who are of the same sex."

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF, formerly Alliance Defense Fund) a American conservative Christian nonprofit organization, sent the advisory to municipal clerks and other officials responsible for issuing marriage licenses in Maine, Maryland and Washington.
