Student Non-Discrimination Act reintroduced in U.S. House

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign and Lambda Legal today applauded the introduction of the Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA) in the U.S. House of Representatives.

SNDA, which was also introduced in the last Congress, would prohibit discrimination against any public school student on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.

SDSU honors LGBT graduates at third annual Lavender Graduation

SAN DIEGO – As the end of the academic year approaches, San Diego State University (SDSU) held its third annual Lavender Graduation Celebration on Tuesday, to honor some of the school’s LGBT and ally graduates.

Nearly 100 people attended the afternoon ceremony, held in a ballroom in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center, including graduates, their family, friends, and other special guests. Over 30 students participated in the ceremony and received a rainbow “honor cord,” a certificate, and a chance to address the crowd.

San Diego-based national conference to empower educators of LGBT K-12 students offering free sessions to kids, parents

SAN DIEGO -- A conference that strives to "make it better" for our nation's youth returns to San Diego for the third year in a row, beginning Friday, February 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley.

Supporting Students, Saving Lives is presented by the Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership (CESCaL), a non-profit organization run by the School Counseling Graduate Program at San Diego State University, lead by Trish Hatch.

National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association accepting applicants for Student Program in August

PHILADELPHIA -- The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) will host a Student Mentorship and Training Program at its annual LGBT Media Summit & Convention from Aug. 25 to 28 in Philadelphia.

Each year, NLGJA chooses students from across the country to participate in its student project -- providing real-world experience to undergraduate and graduate students who are considering a career in journalism.
