Gallup study: Only 3.4% of Americans identify as LGBT

A new study by the Gallup organization -- posed to more than 120,000 U.S. adults thus far -- shows that only 3.4 percent said "yes" when asked if they identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.

The results are based on responses to the question, "Do you, personally, identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender?" included in 121,290 Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted between June 1 and Sept. 30, 2012.

Appeals court denies lesbian spouse parental adoption rights

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals has denied a lesbian the right to adopt her partner’s 6-year-old son, because the the state does not permit or recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions.

Questions remain after Long Island teen commits suicide over alleged anti-gay bullying

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — The Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth Network said it would fast-track its efforts to open an LGBT community center in Suffolk County after learning that an East Hampton, N.Y. teen who was allegedly the victim of anti-gay bullying took his own life last week.

David Hernandez Barros, 16, was found at his family’s home on the evening of Sept. 29, dead of an apparent suicide, according to East Hampton Police Detective Lt. Christopher Anderson.

One Million Moms hate group attacks Jennifer Lopez-Peter Paige show about lesbian family

The anti-gay group One Million Moms (rounding up from their actual 50,000 Facebook supporters) is now targeting the planned ABC Family channel’s upcoming show, “The Fosters” — even though the series does not even have a completed pilot episode.

The series, an hour-long drama from Executive Producer Jennifer Lopez, and co-created by Peter Paige (“Queer as Folk”), centers around a multi-ethnic family headed by a lesbian couple.
