Head of LGBT center in New York sentenced to 2-6 years in prison for embezzlement

NEW YORK -- The former head of a New York LGBT community center has been sentenced to at least two years in prison for embezzling more than $300,000 from the organization.

Lisa Winters pleaded guilty to second-degree larceny on Feb. 14, in connection with the theft of $338,000 between 2005 and 2009 from the Bronx Community Pride Center.

The former head of the primary lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community center in The Bronx has been arrested after allegedly swindling more than $338,000 from the nonprofit to pay for dog-walking, a trip for two to South Africa, clothes and other personal expenses, The Post has learned.
