San Diego Log Cabin Republicans to "reboot"

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Log Cabin Republicans is under new management and is inviting community members to come to its next meeting to help "reboot" the club.

The "Reboot Meeting" will take place on Thursday, March 21, from 5:30 to 7 pm and feature a presentation by Carl DeMaio, San Diego's first openly LGBT Republican city councilmember and mayoral candidate. DeMaio will discuss the mayor's race he recently endured and his work with Reform San Diego.

Gays in California GOP see hopeful signs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gay Republicans in California are sensing a thawing in the attitudes of the state's GOP membership toward gays and lesbians as the party seeks ways to reach new voters.

One gay party stalwart even believes the GOP in California is on the cusp of full acceptance of people the party shunned as recently as a few years ago.

To date, the House Republicans had spend about $2 million in taxpayer money to defend DOMA in court. The Justice Department and the Obama Administration believes DOMA is unconstitutional and refused to defend the law in court. Ten courts have ruled that parts of DOMA are unconstitutional, and one case has now reached the U.S. Supreme Court for review in March.)

LCR names interim boss as R. Clarke Cooper is stepping down

WASHINGTON -- Gregory T. Angelo has been named interim executive director of Log Cabin Republicans.

The current boss, R. Clarke Cooper, has announced his intent to step down at the end of the year after serving as executive director since 2010.

Log Cabin Republicans endorse Mitt Romney, face immediate criticism

WASHINGTON – The morning after the final presidential debate, the Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) joined GOProud in endorsing Mitt Romney for President.

The endorsement instantly drew fire from LGBT groups. The Mitt Gets Worse campaign immediately began promoting a YouTube video featuring openly gay Rep. Barney Frank explaining why he cannot understand how groups like LCR could endorse a candidate and a political party that is so clearly anti-gay.
