Long Beach LGBT Pride celebrates 30 years this weekend | VIDEO

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Southern California LGBT Pride season has begun! With its third weekend in May calendar placement, the Long Beach LGBT Pride celebration is the first of many pride events that take place throughout the region throughout the summer months.

This year, Long Beach Pride celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Thousands of revelers are expected to descend upon Downtown Long Beach tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday for the festivities, which include a festival, parties, and LGBT pride parade.

LGBT2NETWORK to celebrate Long Beach Pride with pool party

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- LGB2NETWORK - a Southern California networking group for the LGBT community and allies - will celebrate Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Weekend with the return of the group’s popular Play@ Maya Pool party at Hotel Maya on Saturday, May 18 from noon to 6 pm.

In 2011, LGB2Network launched a much-anticipated summer pool party series, Play@ Maya, during Long Beach’s Pride weekend. The series was hosted at the completely renovated Hotel Maya in Downtown Long Beach’s south waterfront, which boasts picturesque views of the City.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Every year around this time, many community members start noticing signals that the California LGBT pride season is approaching, often saying “It’s that time of year already?”

Long Beach, a coastal city in the southern part of Los Angeles County that is home to nearly a half-million people, hosts its LGBT pride celebration each year on the third weekend of May, which many consider the official kickoff to the California Pride season.

Long Beach Pride begins a toy drive

LONG BEACH - Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride has begun its annual holiday toy drive with several locally owned businesses.

People can drop off unwrapped toys at 19 locations around Long Beach, including the Pride office, until Dec. 15.

Needy families are welcome to visit the Pride offices, 1017 Obispo Ave., on Dec. 18, when Santa Claus will be handing out the toys.
