LA Pride is this weekend with grand marshall Maria Menounos of "Extra"

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- LGBT people from around Southern California and beyond will converge on West Hollywood this weekend for LA Pride, which is said to be the largest gathering of the LGBT community in Southern California.

Like most Pride events in major cities, the weekend will include a number of parties, a two-day festival, and a parade - all with a bit of LA-style flair.

Gay candidates win in L.A. elections

LOS ANGELES -- Ron Galperin has become the first openly gay candidate to win a citywide race in Los Angeles, the second largest city in America. Galperin defeated Dennis Zine in the race for city controller, an office currently held by Wendy Greuel, who lost a bid to become L.A.’s mayor to City Councilman Eric Garcetti. Galperin is an attorney, business owner, community leader – and a recognized expert on L.A. municipal government and finance.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force to be honored for 40 years of activism by LA Pride

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force will be honored as the 2013 Community Grand Marshal at this year's Los Angeles LGBT Pride Parade, taking place June 9 in West Hollywood.

Each year Christopher Street West (CSW) - the producers of LA Pride - acknowledges the work of one particular organization and this year chose the Task Force in honor of its 40th anniversary and the organization's mission to build the grassroots power of the LGBT community.
