SAN DIEGO -- Those who are making plans to travel to San Diego this summer for the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival, "America's Pride," should look to San Diego Pride's official partner hotels.

LGBT community reacts negatively to San Diego Union-Tribune's sale to Doug Manchester

SAN DIEGO – San Diego’s 143-year-old daily newspaper, The San Diego Union-Tribune, has been sold to MLIM LLC, an investment firm owned by entrepreneur Doug Manchester. The news did not go over well in San Diego's large LGBT community, considering that Manchester was a big supporter of Proposition 8 that took away marriage equality.

As part of a media "test-run" of tomorrow's Over the Edge for KIT event, St. Pierre rappelled 33-stories down one side of the south tower of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Friday morning.

A majority of readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll say they will begin attending events at the Manchester Grand Hyatt now that it has been sold.

LGBT activists and their allies began boycotting the hotel after its former owner made a sizable donation to support Proposition 8.
