Human rights groups to politicians: Boycott Values Voter Summit that embraces anti-gay extremism

NEW YORK -- A coalition of human rights groups is calling on public officials not to attend the upcoming Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., because its host, the Family Research Council, has spread demonizing lies about the LGBT community, and because one of its co-sponsors, the American Family Association, has linked homosexuality to the Holocaust.

NBJC names Michael J. Brewer to leadership team

WASHINGTON -- The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) has named Michael J. Brewer as NBJC's new policy and programs manager.

As the newest member of the NBJC leadership team, he will provide highly skilled program management, policy development and conference planning, officials said.

On Nov. 19, 2011, Florida A&M University student Robert Champion Jr. was found unresponsive aboard a band bus after the school's biggest game of the year. Police ruled the death a homicide from hazing; furthermore, the parents of Mr. Champion, a 26-year-old drum major in the university’s famed marching band, have recently revealed that Mr. Champion was gay.
