Last chance to see NT Live's "Frankenstein" on screen in San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- SDGLN Theater Critic Jean Lowerison writes that NT Live's "Frankenstein" is "one of the best things I've EVER seen in theater."

Fans of the theater can catch an encore screening of this National Theatre production at 2 pm Saturday, June 16, at the Reading Gaslamp 15 downtown. Tickets cost $20 to see this "monster hit" directed by Danny Doyle.

THEATER REVIEW: “One Man, Two Guvnors" provokes lots of laughter

A spectral Marty Feldman look-alike masquerading as a shaky, doddering old waiter tumbles backward down the stairs – only to return several times bearing wobbly trays of food. Each time he displays another inspired bit of physical comedy.

This is Alfie (Tom Edden), not the star but definitely my favorite character in “One Man, Two Guvnors,” Richard Bean’s adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s classic “The Servant of Two Masters.”

London’s National Theatre presents the play in high-definition at several local movie theaters as part of its NTLive series.
