VIDEO: Did football kill Junior Seau?

Doctors have concluded that concussion-triggered depression might have led NFL great Junior Seau to take his own life, according to a report by ABC News/ESPN.

Seau played for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. He used a handgun to kill himself on May 2, 2012. He was 43. Seau was survived by three children and his ex-wife.

Junior Seau autopsy report reveals little

SAN DIEGO – The autopsy report for Junior Seau, a former star defensive player for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, reveals no clues to why he killed himself on May 2.

Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside. He was 43.

The autopsy results, released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, showed no signs of illegal drugs or alcohol in Seau’s system, according to the Associated Press.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- Junior Seau, once one of the top defensive players in the NFL who played for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, has been found dead in his home in Oceanside. He was 43.

Police are investigating the shooting as a possible suicide.

Seau leaves behind three children and an ex-wife.

Officials say Seau texted messages to his family on Tuesday, telling them: "Love you."
