HRC: By insulting same-sex parents, NOM hits new low

WASHINGTON – Brian Brown, president of the anti-gay National Organization for Marriage, hit a new low Wednesday, responding to the passage of a marriage equality bill in the Rhode Island state Senate by proclaiming:

"It's bad enough when families break down through divorce or death, but it's unconscionable when a state encourages this through policies that deprive children of the love of both a mother and a father. This is a very sad day for Rhode Island."

NEW YORK – Today, the family of Tyler Clementi was joined by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and Equality Matters in calling on Jennifer Morse of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) to apologize for her recent speech to Iowa State University students on February 17, in which she used the story of Tyler Clementi’s death as an example of why it is “not the best thing” to let lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people be friends with other LGBT people, or be supported by the LGBT community.

Anti-gay hate group announces march in Washington to support Prop 8

WASHINGTON – The anti-gay hate group National Organization for Marriage is planning a march in Washington on the very day that the U.S. Supreme Court takes up California’s Proposition 8 case.

NOM’s “Marriage March 2013” is planned for Tuesday, March 26, but to date the details are sketchy. The “Marriage March 2013” Facebook page, set up on Jan. 22, has 68 likes.

On March 26, the U.S. Supreme Court will review the Prop 8 case, Hollingsworth v. Perry.

HRC: National Organization for Marriage’s law firm defended racist campaign

WASHINGTON– National Organization for Marriage (NOM) President Brian Brown is organizing, fundraising and providing support for far-right and racially insensitive clients out of NOM’s K Street office via his relatively new ActRight properties, including the ActRight Legal Foundation.

Top anti-marriage donor in Maryland is active in white supremacist, secessionist causes

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is calling on the Maryland Marriage Alliance to return the $10,000 donation of Michael Peroutka, an active white supremacist and secessionist sympathizer who was one of the three largest individual donors to the campaign against marriage equality in Maryland.

NOM sees one-third decline in contributions for 2011

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) saw a steep decline in the amount of money it raised in 2011 – dropping to $6.2 million from the $9.1 million it raised the previous year, according to the Human Rights Campaign.
