North County LGBTQ Resource Center to present "Words Hurt" campaign reception

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- In an effort to create a safer environment in local schools, Carlsbad High School and the North County LGBTQ Resource Center have teamed up to present the "Words Hurt" campaign, which will include a student art show and reception at 5 pm Saturday, June 9.

North County LGBTQ Resource Center seeking volunteers

OCEANSIDE -- The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is seeking volunteers to support the programs and services of the facility, which opened just over a month ago.

Volunteers are being sought to help in a number of areas, including administrative support; community ambassadors; and event volunteers. Besides being open as a community resource space, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center hosts a number of workshops, support groups, classes, and social activities in its space.

North County LGBTQ Resource Center to launch youth programs this week

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- Just over a month after opening its doors, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center has big plans for community programming, including supporting two programs geared toward youth.

The "Our Circle" social group and Project Youth Open Mic Night will both launch their 2012 programs this week to provide an outlet for LGBT and questioning youth to come together to express themselves, have fun, and meet others who share similar life experiences.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – After months of planning, fundraising and gathering community input, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center held its grand opening celebration on Sunday, Dec. 4.

Event organizers report that nearly 200 people attended the gathering, which included a VIP cocktail reception for the center’s board and supporters followed by an open house and holiday bazaar fundraiser in the space.

New North County LGBTQ Resource Center seeks volunteers

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- As preparations for the December opening of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center continue, the board of directors has announced a meeting for those interested in volunteering at the new space. The meeting will be held this Friday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 pm.

Earlier this month, the board of directors of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center (formerly the North County LGBT Coalition) announced that they had signed a lease for a permanent facility, located at 510 North Coast Highway in Oceanside.

San Diego's North County to celebrate LGBT Pride on Saturday

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- While it has been a monumental year for the North County LGBT Coalition as it moves forward with its plans to build a permanent LGBTQ Resource Center in the area, the group has stayed true to its roots, continuing to produce the "Pride @ the Beach!" celebration.

Town hall forum scheduled Sept. 30 to discuss plans for LGBT center in North County

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- As members of the LGBT community in the northern part of San Diego County move from "dream" to "reality" in their quest to build an LGBTQ Resource Center in the area, the North County LGBT Coalition will host a town hall meeting to discuss plans for the new space.

The public event, which will be held Friday, Sept. 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, will provide a forum for community members to ask questions, and give feedback to the coalition board members, who are spearheading the effort.
