OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT: Do something about Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Bill

Dear President Obama,

I am writing on behalf of American Jewish World Service (AJWS) and its more than one hundred thousand supporters in the United States to urge you to use the persuasive powers of your office to demand that the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, oppose the proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill. This is an urgent matter, as the bill may come up for a vote in Uganda’s parliament in the coming days.

SDGLN Poll: Readers largely split over whether HRC was right to endorse Obama so soon

Readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll are clearly divided on whether the Human Rights Campaign was right to endorse a presidential candidate so far in advance of the 2012 election.

Our poll question was: Do you think HRC was correct to endorse the re-election of Obama before any major political party had nominated a candidate?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 52% of readers say that they believe that the HRC was wrong to endorse a candidate so soon. However, 48% say the HRC was correct to endorse Obama.
