SAN DIEGO -- The Glitteratti – a group of five philanthropic friends in San Diego who have joined hands to bring a little sparkle into the lives of those in need – invite community members to help make a difference in the lives of San Diegans living with HIV/AIDS at a fundraiser for Being Alive on Saturday, May 25.

"The Glitteratti" to launch Saturday with benefit for The Center's Youth Housing Project

SAN DIEGO -- A group of friends - calling themselves "The Glitteratti" - have joined together to make a difference in the lives of people in need, and will host their first benefit event this Saturday, March 2 to benefit The Center's Youth Housing Project (YHP).

Event attendees are asked to bring gift cards in any denomination that can be used by YHP residents to purchase everyday items that they might not be able to afford otherwise.

NEW YORK -- Continuing its highly successful multiplatform public service campaign to address social injustices and bridge cultural divides, USA Network, along with its distribution partners, today announced the 2012 recipients of the Characters Unite Awards, which includes San Diego's Patrick Wallace, co-founder of A Note To My Kid.

Ten winners were selected from hundreds of nominees for their efforts in combating prejudice and discrimination while increasing tolerance and acceptance in their communities.

Giving back to the community has always been a part of Patrick Wallace's nature. For years, he has participated in charity events and volunteer opportunities as a way of helping those less fortunate.

Wallace's latest endeavor is A Note To My Kid, which has received national attention for its attempt to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.

Wallace, who was raised in San Diego, is 36-years old and is happily taken by his partner Mike Curry.

In searching for a way to give back to the LGBTQ community, Michael Volpatt and I created a aNoteToMyKid.com, a grassroots movement that gives everyone -- parents, family, and friends -- the opportunity to express unconditional love for the LGBTQ people in their lives. The nonprofit's purpose is to remind people that there is a lot of love out there, to bring family and friends closer together, and to give parents and others who may not know how to broach the subject of sexuality an opportunity to learn from example.
