San Diegans test-drive bike-sharing systems

SAN DIEGO -- As San Diego leaders discuss ways to make the city more bicycle-friendly, Mayor Jerry Sanders on Monday launched a bike share program during a demonstration hosted by Civic San Diego at Petco Park.

Public bike sharing is an innovative transportation system that provides public access to bicycles for short trips in an urban environment and promotes an affordable transportation alternative to driving for San Diego residents, commuters and visitors.

San Diego Pride to host another "Out at the Park" event

SAN DIEGO -- Baseball fans are invited to participate in another round of San Diego Pride's "Out at The Park" event, to be held Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Pride's second LGBT night at Petco Park, for a game matching the San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, is being held in partnership with the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA). The alliance will be holding its world series event in San Diego later this month.

San Diego Pride's annual "Out at the Park" event set for May 19 at Petco Park

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego LGBT Pride’s annual “Out at the Park” will take place on Saturday, May 19, at 7:05 pm at Petco Park when the Padres host the Angels in interleague play.

Pride officials say that this year's event will be the largest yet.

The game will will mark the first series that baseball superstar Albert Pujols will appear in San Diego as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.

Tickets to the game purchased through San Diego Pride are $15, which is discounted from the $18.50 individual ticket price paid by those purchasing tickets directly from the Padres.

TONIGHT: Young professionals invited to mixer to learn about community service opportunities

SAN DIEGO -- Future Leaders of Our Community (FLOC) San Diego chapter will host its first awareness event of the year tonight, giving guests the opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Those who attend the 6:30 pm event, which will be held at Bamboo Lounge in Hillcrest, will have the opportunity to meet and network with other like-minded individuals who are looking to volunteer and get involved with a worthy cause.

BREAKING NEWS: Padres offer (2) free tickets to all active, retired and military veterans for tonight's game

SAN DIEGO -- In an effort to honor every San Diegan who has ever served in the military services in celebration of the capture and death of Osama bin Laden, the San Diego Padres are offering two free tickets to tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7 pm.

The announcement came through their Facebook page.

Tickets go on sale for San Diego Pride's annual Out at the Park event

SAN DIEGO -- Tickets for San Diego LGBT Pride’s annual Out at the Park with the San Diego Padres are now available at the Pride office and various outlets throughout Hillcrest.

This year’s event, which will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 5:35 pm at Petco Park, will also feature a pre-game tailgate party with hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, cocktails and soft drinks. The tailgate party will be held from 3:30 to 5 pm at Imperial Avenue and 14th Street.
