It's the endless cycle of life: One thing dies, while at the same time something else is reborn. Eden closed last week, so right on cue, regular gay nights are returning to Spin!

Pool party season is upon us, and there's no better sign of this than the first Guys Like Us (GLU) Pool Party of 2012, coming up July 14 at a private estate in Mission Hills.

These GLU parties have traditionally been some of the best and most eagerly anticipated pool parties locally. You can view photos from some of the previous events here. Fundraisers for their AIDS Walk team, the GLU has raised thousands of dollars for the cause over the years.

I was checking out the White Party Palm Springs website the other day, and I noticed that promoter Jeffrey Sanker is offering various "VIP Experience" packages: bundled ticket and hotel deals with various perks geared toward high rollers.

For example, for $2,500 you can get one of their two Table packages, which include:

- Three-night stay in a standard room (mountain view) at The Renaissance Hotel
