Gay Eagle Scout charged with murder of man in Alabama trailer park

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Zachary Stirewalt, a 21-year-old openly gay Eagle Scout and former student at Appalachian State University, has been charged with murder of a man with whom he was staying at the time.

According to Lt. L.R. Sanderson a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene of the shooting around 6:30 a.m., Saturday, to find Daniel Turman, 43, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Stirewalt was taken into custody as a person of interest and later charged with murder.

For as long as I can remember – that’s how long I knew I wasn’t straight. Now – if you were to ask me when did I finally admit it and start living openly as a lesbian? Well now – that would be the age of 50 – ten years ago.

Judge temporarily blocks California's ban on reparative therapy for minors

A federal judge in California on Monday issued a temporary injunction on the state's ban on controverial gay-to-straight "conversion" therapy, but limited the scope of his order to just the three providers who have appealed the ban.

U.S. District Judge William Shubb ruled that the ban Gov. Jerry Brown signed earlier this year could offend the ruling that the First Amendment rights of psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals who engage in “reparative” or “conversion” therapy.

Holiday fundraiser to benefit new Family Health Centers of San Diego facility

SAN DIEGO -- Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) will host a fundraiser on Thursday, Dec. 13, to raise crucial money for the new Downtown Family Health Center, which will be located on the ground floor of the new permanent supportive housing facility in downtown, Connections Housing.

The event, titled “Home & Healthy for the Holidays,” will be held at the W Hotel in downtown San Diego from 5-8 pm.
