First LGBT group joins American Medical Association's House of Delegates

CHICAGO — The American Medical Association (AMA) today voted GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality into its House of Delegates, the AMA’s principal policy-making body.

GLMA is the first and only LGBT organization in the House of Delegates, signaling a major shift to advance understanding of LGBT healthcare needs and promote equality.

“With this historic vote, GLMA has a significant opportunity to increase our efforts to improve the health and well-being of LGBT individuals,” GLMA executive director Hector Vargas said.

The 40th annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards winners were announced last night and LGBT-inclusive soap “Days Of Our Lives” took home the top prize, Outstanding Drama Series, and series star Chandler Massey picked up his second Daytime Entertainment Emmy in Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of gay character Will Horton.

League of United Latin American Citizens' 84th annual convention to discuss LGBT issues

LAS VEGAS -- The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) began its 84th annual convention today with a look at LGBT Latino issues.

At today's opening session, convention attendees heard the results of findings from LULAC and the Human Rights Campaign's co-branded report "Growing up LGBT Latino in America," with the goal of supporting family inclusion and anti-bullying.

Our poll question was: For Father's Day: How would you describe your dad?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 57% of readers say they “love him because he was always there for me,” 19% said they were “disappointed that he was no supportive of me” and 24% said none of the above.
