West Hollywood to celebrate the "End of the World" on Dec. 21

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- The end is near. At least the end of the ancient Mayan Calendar, which cuts off at 9:12 pm on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. To mark the occasion, several local businesses in West Hollywood will celebrate the "End of the World" with a special evening of promotions.

West Hollywood joins countless other cities in the Western hemisphere in celebrating the end of the Mayan calendar including Guatemala City, Guatemala.

SAN DIEGO -- Christmastime continues to be a magical time for Joseph Bukombe, a San Diego resident who faces deportation to homophobic Uganda, where lawmakers want to pass the notorious "Kill The Gays" bill.

On Dec. 23, 2011, Bukombe was released from federal detention in Otay Mesa after spending two years behind bars fighting deportation. He had been detained on a DUI charge.

All Out: Uganda Parliament adjourns, "Kill The Gays" bill in limbo

KAMPALA, Uganda – Parliament adjourned today without debating or voting on the draconian “Kill The Gays” bill. Lawmakers will not return to session until February 2013.

Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, had vowed to pass the “Kill The Gays” bill as a “Christmas gift” to the nation.

Instead, Kadaga was at the Vatican getting blessed by the Pope – an action that is drawing widespread criticism.
