9 former employees sue Micky's in West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Ahead of an October trial, the lawyer for nine former Micky’s employees has gone public about a lawsuit filed against the West Hollywood gay bar in July 2011.

The plaintiffs are charging the popular nightclub, known for its male strippers and go-go dancers, with civil rights violations, which include lewd conduct, creating a sexually hostile work environment, racial discrimination and discrimination against heterosexual employees, and labor code violations.

San Diego gets state permit for permanent rope to protect La Jolla seals

SAN DIEGO -- The state's Coastal Commission on Wednesday, May 15, issued a permit to the City of San Diego approving the permanent placement of a year-round rope at La Jolla Children’s Pool in order to protect the seal rookery.

“This is a remarkable beach where the urban environment of a city blends seamlessly into the natural habitat of the seals. We need to provide protection for these animals every day, especially as the seals raise their pups, born over the last several months right here in La Jolla,” Mayor Bob Filner said. “Keeping the rope up year-round is the right thing to do.”

LGBT ally Chris Kluwe to punt for Oakland Raiders

OAKLAND, Calif. – LGBT ally Chris Kluwe is signing a contract today to be the punter for the Oakland Raiders.

One of the most outspoken NFL players in support of equal rights for the LGBT community, especially marriage equality, Kluwe was cut May 6 by the Minnesota Vikings.

Kluwe will replace Pro Bowl punter Shane Lechler, a free agent who bolted the Raiders to play for the Houston Texans.

“I’m excited to be an Oakland Raider and be playing in California,” Golden State native Kluwe told foxsports.com on Wednesday. “Now, my family can actually come to games.”
