All In Pride celebration to kick off San Diego Pride

SAN DIEGO -- Kick-off San Diego Pride early with the 2013 All In Pride Celebration at the Top of the Park on Thursday, June 27.

At the event, San Diego Pride will honor this year’s Stonewall Award winners, which will include the presentation of the awards, and remarks from the honorees.

LGBT cancer survivors’ voices spotlight cracks in health care system

NEW YORK -- The National LGBT Cancer Network released a new report that uses the direct experiences of cancer survivors to paint a stark picture of the effect of discrimination on LGBT health.

The free, downloadable booklet, “LGBT Patient Centered Outcomes,” uses the findings to suggest practical recommendations for improving health care for LGBT people.

College expels lesbian, demands financial aid repayment

OMAHA, Neb. -- A woman contends she was expelled from Grace University in Omaha a semester before her graduation because she is a lesbian.

Danielle Powell, 24, said Tuesday she enrolled in the fundamentalist Christian university in 2007 but was expelled last year after school authorities learned she had a relationship with a female student.

Although Powell has moved on, marrying a different woman, she is still caught in a dispute with Grace officials over financial aid. She says the university has denied release of her transcripts, preventing her enrollment in another university.
