LA Pride 2013: Biggest, most diverse ever

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- With 130 entrants in West Hollywood’s LA Gay Pride Parade 2013 flowing down the city’s main drag, we were hard put to photograph all of them and even harder put to choose from the hundreds of shots we took of the (long) day.

It was a joyous occasion that showed the LGBT community in all its diversity, the actuality far different than the critics who slammed the parade and festival before it even happened as an "outdated, adolescent mess.”

New poll: California wants marriage equality

As the Supreme Court prepares a decision on the fate of Proposition 8, nearly six in 10 California voters now believe same-sex marriage should be legal, with support rising among older voters and in all regions of the state, a new poll has found.

The USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll reveals that attitudes in the state toward gay marriage have changed significantly since Californians banned it in 2008 by a vote of 52% to 48%. The Supreme Court will decide this month whether the ban will continue.

SDGLN Poll: Readers reveal whether they attend gay pride parades

SAN DIEGO – Readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll are divided about attending gay pride parades

Our poll question was: How many Gay Pride parades do you attend each year?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 46% of readers say they don't attend any gay pride parades, 40% attend their hometown parade, and 15% attend as many parades as possible.

Gay soldier: "Prince Harry saved me"

Prince Harry is being hailed a hero after reportedly coming to the aid of a gay British soldier who believed he was going to be bashed to death by soldiers from a rival regiment.

Trooper James Wharton said he tearfully confided in the prince, who was his tank commander, that he feared he was going to be murdered after six soldiers threatened to "batter" him in a homophobic attack in 2008, the Daily Mail reported.

He said after he told the prince about his fears, Harry had "a complete look of bewilderment" on his face and said he was "going to sort this s--- out once and for all."

Mr. Gay Canada is not just a pretty face

Danny Papadatos has always been a performer. From theater in elementary school through plays and drama all through high school, he's delighted in entertaining. And now, as the most recent recipient of the title of Mr. Gay Canada, he has the chance to combine entertainment and education.

Papadatos won the title in a national competition held last February, and he will be representing Canada in the Mr. Gay World competition in Belgium this August during the World Outgames.
