Former Padres player, now out, to join San Diego Pride for Out at the Park event

SAN DIEGO – San Diego LGBT Pride's annual Out at the Park event and Tailgate Party later this month will include a guest appearance and remarks by former Padres player Billy Bean, who publicly came out as gay after his retirement from Major League Baseball.

Out at the Park will take place Saturday, April 27, at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. The Padres will be hosting division rival San Francisco Giants.

BREAKING NEWS: O’Malley-Seidler cousins take over ownership of San Diego Padres

SAN DIEGO – A new generation of the O’Malley family, part of baseball royalty long associated with the rival Dodgers, is taking over ownership of the San Diego Padres.

Four cousins representing the O’Malley and Seidler families say they plan to turn around the Padres, who have struggled in recent years in the National League West.

Kevin O’Malley, co-founder of Top of the Third, and Brian O’Malley, minority owner of Top of the Third are the grandsons of the Dodgers’ legend owner, the late Walter O’Malley, who is enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

San Diego Pride to host another "Out at the Park" event

SAN DIEGO -- Baseball fans are invited to participate in another round of San Diego Pride's "Out at The Park" event, to be held Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Pride's second LGBT night at Petco Park, for a game matching the San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, is being held in partnership with the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA). The alliance will be holding its world series event in San Diego later this month.

Women's softball World Series needs volunteers for upcoming San Diego tourney

SAN DIEGO -- The Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) is bringing its annual World Series women's softball championship to San Diego, August 20-25, 2012 and they need some local help.

Created in 1997 with both men and women's teams, the sports non-profit split from the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAA) ten years later and took only the women players. It currently boasts 26 participating cities across the country.

Out At The Park May 19!

Once again, AFCSL is partnering with three other great local LGBT organizations, San Diego Pride, the SDAFFL and SD Hoops to bring you the 2012 Out At The Park, a night of baseball under the stars at the beautiful PETCO Park.

San Diego Pride's annual "Out at the Park" event set for May 19 at Petco Park

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego LGBT Pride’s annual “Out at the Park” will take place on Saturday, May 19, at 7:05 pm at Petco Park when the Padres host the Angels in interleague play.

Pride officials say that this year's event will be the largest yet.

The game will will mark the first series that baseball superstar Albert Pujols will appear in San Diego as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.

Tickets to the game purchased through San Diego Pride are $15, which is discounted from the $18.50 individual ticket price paid by those purchasing tickets directly from the Padres.

San Diego Padres pledge to make it better for local LGBT kids their own way

Although four different petitions can be found circulating from the change.org website urging the San Diego Padres to join the "It Gets Better" project, the team has found an alternative way to show their emerging support of the LGBT community.

On the heels of the All-Star break and in the final days leading up to San Diego's 37th annual Pride celebration, the Padres have announced they support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth (LGBT) and have signed a pledge with the national Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to prove it.

ACTION ALERT: San Diego woman starts online petition to urge Padres to join "It Gets Better Project"

SAN DIEGO -- Debbie Allen, a life-long San Diegan native, has jumped into the anti-bullying fray by starting a petition to get her hometown's local professional baseball team to join the "It Gets Better Project."

One of the many hats Allen wears is as director of the local Humanist organization, the San Diego Coalition of Reason (SDCoR). Humanists believe in and advocate for equal rights for all people, among various other causes. As such, Allen has been following the "It Gets Better Project" with great interest since its inception.

SAN DIEGO -- In an effort to honor every San Diegan who has ever served in the military services in celebration of the capture and death of Osama bin Laden, the San Diego Padres are offering two free tickets to tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7 pm.

The announcement came through their Facebook page.
