For those of you still procrastinating about booking passage, you should know that the 2012 Atlantis Halloween cruise to Mexico is now almost completely sold out.

Be sure to head over to Urban Mo's this Friday night to bid a fond farewell to a legend in our nightlife community, at a going away party for Mo's weekend bartender Wes Geissler.

After nine fun-filled years on the job, Wes is moving to Los Angeles to pursue new opportunities and adventures (his last day at work was this past Sunday). His positive energy and enthusiasm, his infectious warmth and smile, and last but not least, his extremely strong pours ... will all be missed.

Jim Winsor's Out & About: Why I mentioned Balboa Park water fight in my column

Last week I made a brief mention in my column about a Balboa Park water fight event that I received an invite to on Facebook. SAN DIEGO – In today’s economy, it is often difficult for small-business owners to stay afloat for more than a few years. Some, though, have worked their way through the economic challenges and only grow and thrive.

Such is the case with Hale Media, the parent company of San Diego Pix (SDPIX) and San Diego Gay & Lesbian News (SDGLN), which will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its SDPIX brand this Saturday night with a party at “Laser Party” at Rich’s nightclub.

Another San Diego Pride weekend has come and gone. I hope everyone is recovering well!

There were, by my count, 71 special Pride-themed club and party events last weekend. To get an idea of how successful the weekend was on that score, I asked several of my friends for comments, and here are a few of the thoughts and reflections they had to share:
