SAN DIEGO -- Eleven individuals and groups have been named winners of the 2012 Spirit of Stonewall Awards, sponsored by San Diego Pride.

The awards will be handed out at the Spirit of Stonewall rally at 6 pm Friday, July 20, between Harvey Milk Street and University Avenue in Hillcrest.

This year’s award recipients are listed below.

Champions of Pride – State Sen. Christine Kehoe and Jerry Turner

SAN DIEGO -- Community members will celebrate the unveiling of the first street in the nation to be named after LGBT civil-rights hero Harvey Milk at a ceremony at 5 pm Tuesday, May 22.

The event, which will take place on what would have been Milk's 82nd birthday, will include brief remarks from community leaders and a reception.

Long Beach, a coastal city in the southern part of Los Angeles County that is home to nearly a half-million people, hosts its LGBT pride celebration each year on the third weekend of May, which many consider the official kickoff to the California Pride season.

TIJUANA, Mexico -- In honor of the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO), Comunidad Cultural de Tijuana LGBTI (COCUT - LGBTI) will host its annual Jornada Cultural Contra La Homofobia starting today at 4 pm and running through Saturday.
