San Diego Pride to help 2012 grantees increase their funding

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Pride is hoping that community members will help double the grant funds that it distributed to 14 community organizations last week.

After a successful 2012 pride season, the organization was able to grant $28,000 to the organizations, bringing Pride's community giving total to over $85,000 for the year.

Hillcrest Business Association won't produce Mardi Gras in 2013

SAN DIEGO -- At its December meeting, the Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) board of directors voted to not produce Hillcrest Mardi Gras in 2013.

The popular event, which attracts thousands of partiers to a Fat Tuesday street party at University Avenue and Fourth Avenue, has been jointly produced by the HBA and the Greater San Diego Business Association Foundation (GSDBAF) for the past 12 years. The two groups jointly own the event.

Donors supporting marriage equality in 2012 overwhelmed those who opposed it

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign today released an analysis of donors to the four states with marriage equality on the ballot this year. The number of contributors who gave in support of marriage for gay and lesbian couples was thirteen times greater – about 133,000 compared to an estimated 10,500 - than those giving financial resources to oppose marriage equality.

Activist: "Keep up the pressure" on Uganda Parliament not to take up "Kill The Gays" bill

KAMPALA, Uganda – Parliament is running out of time to debate and vote on the notorious “Kill The Gays” bill, as the current session ends on Friday, Dec. 14.

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill has fallen to No. 6 on today’s order paper, according to Ugandan LGBT activist Frank Mugisha. “Keep the pressure up,” Mugisha writes on his Facebook page.
