San Diego Human Dignity Foundation names new executive director

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation’s (SDHDF) board of directors has selected John Brown as the organization's new executive director, effective Feb. 1.

Brown comes to SDHDF after most recently serving as executive director of Family Services of the Desert, one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the Coachella Valley.

Brown's resume also includes service as executive director of the Desert AIDS Project from 1998 to 2004.

San Diego Human Dignity Foundation bids farewell to executive director Tony Freeman

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation (SDHDF) announced today that its executive director Tony Freeman is leaving his post to return to the ministry of the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC).

Freeman has served as executive director for five years, and will continue to support the organization as a resource through the transition. His last day will be Oct. 5.

San Diego Human Dignity Foundation brings together past and present supporters

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation launched a new spring event on Saturday, June 9, reuniting the organization’s past and present founders, donors and board members in order to acknowledge several community recipients of the foundation’s philanthropy. Called the Reunion Party, the event was celebrating the organization’s 16 years of philanthropy and was held at a private residence in Mission Hills.

Panelists discuss "pride" at Diversionary Theatre pre-show event

SAN DIEGO -- Diversionary Theater hosted two special evenings to launch their latest production, “The Pride,” including an opening night party on April 7 and a panel discussion the following week on Friday, April 13. Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play includes a look at elements of LGBT pride in two time periods: the late 1950s and present day. Directed by Glenn Paris, the play stars Francis Gercke, Jessica John, Brian Mackey and Dangerfield Moore.

San Diego Human Dignity Foundation grants $400,000 to LGBT groups in 2011

SAN DIEGO -- As the year winds down, the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation (SDHDF) officials say they are proud of the thousands of dollars that organization has made as grants to benefit the local LGBT community.

Through its various programs and funding sources, SDHDF was able to grant more than $417,500 this year to support LGBT students and youth, seniors and people living with HIV/AIDS.
