Hillcrest Pride Flag is raised to full-staff today

SAN DIEGO – The Hillcrest Pride Flag, the community’s new symbol celebrating diversity, has been raised to full-staff today for the first time since its dedication Friday night.

The Pride flag was lowered to half-staff immediately after the ceremony out of respect to the victims of the shooting tragedy in Colorado, as requested by President Barack Obama. During the Spirit of Stonewall Rally on Friday, Pride officials held a moment of silence for the shooting victims.

SAN DIEGO – The long awaiting raising of the Hillcrest Pride Flag, following an inspirational Spirit of Stonewall Rally, was ushered up the 65-foot flagpole to sustained cheers and applause on Friday night.

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego LGBT Pride will bestow a community service award to Evelyn Thomas and Linda Sanders of Sanctuary Project Veterans for the ongoing support they provide to service members discharged under the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.

Pride will also publicly honor Sempra Energy and Qualcomm for equality recognition at next month’s Spirit of Stonewall Rally, scheduled for 6:30 pm, Friday, July 15, at Marston Point in Balboa Park.
