Readers of San Diego Gay & Lesbian News who took our poll do not believe that comic and actor Tracy Morgan’s apology for an anti-gay tirade was acceptable.

Our poll question was: Tracy Morgan’s apology: Was acceptable or was not acceptable?

The results, which are not scientific, reveal that 82% of readers say that Morgan’s apology was not acceptable, while 18% say that it was acceptable.

NEW YORK – Actor/comedian Tracy Morgan began his quest to repair his public image on Friday after a homophobic rant during a June 3 comedy show in Nashville, Tenn., brought nearly universal condemnation.

Morgan met with LGBT youths from the Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest organization serving homeless LGBT youth. He also met with Elke Kennedy, whose 20-year-old son, Sean, was killed in an anti-gay hate crime.

This week, three people who have zero connections to one another, have made headlines for their anti-gay comments. All three believe that being gay is a “choice.” To that I say, ignorance is not a choice.
