LGBT celebrities tout Obama's achievements for gay community

Some of America's most visible LGBT celebrities are speaking out in a new campaign video in support of President Barack Obama's re-election efforts.

Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family"), Zachary Quinto ("American Horror Story"), George Takei ("Star Trek"), Chaz Bono, comic Wanda Sykes and tennis great Billie Jean King appear in the video titled "Obama Pride: LGBT Americans for Obama."

An Evening With Women pulls in a hefty sum for LA's Gay & Lesbian Center

LOS ANGELES -- Last weekend, out singer/songwriter/producer Linda Perry put on a gala that whipped up almost half a million dollars for several important LA Gay & Lesbian Center programs.

Dubbed "An Evening With Women," the celebrity-drenched soiree was held at the Beverly Hilton and more than $445,000 was raised through ticket sales, pre-gala silent auctions and auctions during the event itself.

L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center to benefit from star-studded "An Evening With Women" May 19

LOS ANGELES -- For the fifth year in a row, the award-winning singer-songwriter-producer Linda Perry has gathered together many of her friends from the entertainment industry to raise money for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center's many important programs.

Called "An Evening With Women," this year's star-studded fundraiser will be bigger than ever, and is being held Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton.

PHILADELPHIA -- To celebrate the accomplishments of LGBT individuals throughout history, the Equality Forum releases a list of 31 icons to spotlight each year during the month of October.

The organization recently released its 2011 list and will begin featuring one icon per day through a video, biography and images starting Oct. 1, which kicks off LGBT History Month.

Wanda Sykes puts a celebrity face on Equality California

PALM SPRINGS -- Like so many other members of the LGBT community, Proposition 8 was a rude awakening for Wanda Sykes, and spurred her into activism. She could no longer sit idly on the sidelines while our civil rights were being infringed upon and same-sex marriage rights in California were shockingly stripped away by misguided voters in the Golden State back in 2008.

Since then she has been actively involved with Equality California’s fight to win back our rights.
