You may think that adding snacks means adding calories that will cause you to gain weight. However, adding snacks to your daily meal plan may be the key to finally losing weight.

We would listen for the signal our brain sends to our stomach to recognize that we’ve satisfied (not stuffed) our hunger.

As a result, overeating and needless grazing would be eliminated and our waistlines would thank us for it.

Boot~ique: Four short-cuts to avoid holiday weight gain

The holidays bring about a hectic season of shopping, socializing, celebrating and eating!

Time spent with family and friends usually turns into extra large meals, extravagant desserts and more than a couple of drinks.

But … you don’t have to give up on your quest to be fit and fabulous just because you hear Christmas jingles everywhere.

Here are four quick and easy short cuts to enjoy your holidays without losing your fitness goals.

1. Do Not save calories for a big dinner

Boot~ique with VIDEO: Keep fit and dance to give back at Thanksgiving

The holidays have officially arrived! There are so many things to enjoy and appreciate during the holidays, but I bet you're thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, right?

To help you avoid over-eating this great meal, start your day off right.

After a good night's sleep, enjoy a healthy, protein and fiber-rich breakfast!

Remember, it's not helpful to starve yourself all day, just so you can eat more at night. Continue to eat well throughout the day so you are not overly hungry when the Thanksgiving meal hits the table.

Boot~ique with VIDEO: Total body tone-up

You can maximize your workout by doing a small group of exercises, back to back in a circuit with very little rest.

You will save time and burn more calories to give your body that fit, lean, fabulous look you desire.

For this workout, each circuit is just five minutes.

You'll do five exercises in a row, targeting your major muscle groups for a total body workout. We recommend working up to doing this circuit four times in a row - just take a 30 second rest between circuits.

So, what can you do? Hide? Take a week off work and spend it in the gym instead? Put a "no trick-or-treat" sign on your door?

Luckily, you don't need to go to those extreme lengths in order to resist the urge to splurge on Halloween treats -- but you do need to have a plan to help you say "No" to all the goodies that will be lurking as Halloween approaches.

Boot~ique: How short is too short?

Ah … the age old question. You do know we are talking about workouts, right?

Many people have asked this question, and the answer really lies in the intensity of the workout.

In fact, the intensity of the workout is actually more important than the length of time and can make a difference in total fat loss because of how the body uses its energy.

The body may burn fat or it may burn carbohydrates. Depending on how intensely an activity is performed determines which of the two is burned.
